Attendees at the annual 4th of July car launch in Glacier View report that a launched car has kept going. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” exclaimed a bewildered onlooker, squinting to pick out the car amongst the clouds. “They launched the car off the cliff, totally normal so far, but instead of it plummeting back to Earth and exploding in a cathartic fireball, it peacefully sailed off into the distance.”
“Maybe it just had enough speed?” continued the onlooker, struggling to reconcile his understanding of gravity and physics with the flying car that was now about to exit the atmosphere. “I’m pretty drunk right now,” admitted the attendee, “and so are most of the other people here, but we all agree that the car did not in fact hit the ground as we all expected and instead kept going.” At press time, the launched car was just about to pass Saturn.
