Known for “Moosing Around”, the “Moose-Face Moose” (referred to by the Anchorage PD as MFM) has been seen lingering around parking lots, coastal trails, and bike paths, often intimidating local hikers at critical bottlenecks by vigorously chewing on leaves and sticks from nearby shrubs.
The MFM is described by local residents as “a moose” and having “moose-like facial features” making it difficult for local authorities to track him down.
D.A. Brittany L. Dunlop and Mayor of Anchorage Suzanne LaFrance urged residents to “stay indoors” and “take proper precautions when hiking.” However, with it being summertime in Alaska, these warnings are unlikely to be followed, making it all the more likely that this ruthless ruminant claims another victim.
Privately, Chief of Police Michael Kerle believes that “fear and intimidation” is the reason the MFM has not been found. Due to the fact that there are over 1,600 moose in the Anchorage Bowl area (significantly outnumbering the human population), it seems that Anchorage residents are both unwilling and unable to bring this Eurasian-shaped deer to justice.
